The next morning, the Syndicate meets in the Top Chamber in the Decadomum, a space above the Senate, to install the new Regent (Teros 'the Bookkeeper' Scuto Rubro). Of course, other topics will also be discussed, such as the Covenant and the Detective.
The stubborn Vlad DeDune disrupts the meeting of the Syndicate. It is the foreman of the miners on their party mobile. He thinks he is also part of the Syndicate and now that the old Regent is dead, he should be present at this meeting.
After getting rid of Mr. DeDune, the Syndicate present, formally led by brand new Regent Teros Scuto Rubro, discusses the deployment of the Detective. Arranging things is not without effort, it's far from streamlined, but in order to search for the culprit (the fleeting being) to also search for the head of Angus Scuto Rubro, the new Regent must make an argument, something that has not been done for 500 years. The Syndicate then may vote to determine whether to summon the Detective in the hope that it will actually show up.
Bokoran and Elise bicker about who can determine who will be the scapegoat, or who is the one to be charged with the murder of Angus. After that Teros can make his speech, after which they take a break to think about the decision.
In the background, Dronov and Elise plot their next steps to further Angus' plan.
The inhabitants of Lokos are rudely awakened by the copper bell of the central watchtower of Lokos. The diversionary maneuver of Eep Loc works well, the forest is on fire and Korul Xufol rushes through Lokos toward the grove in fear that something horrible is about to happen again.
